The Death of Freebies – Part I

Every normal person in the world love free things (compare to free Pizza and $50 Pizza, which one you prefer-of course the same Pizza)

Do you know, why people giving freebies? Shampoo company gives free samples. There are free ebook everywhere. There are also, free test drive for new car. Free car park for hotel guest and so on.

Even, when you feel hungry, just stop at nearby supermarket and walk to food section. Almost everyday (if not every hour), there are free yougurt, or new brand juice, and even crispy fried chicken and the best thing is, they are FREE.

But, have you ever think, why are people giving freebies?
From my experience (my life experience, experience taken from book and, others experiences), there are actually never a FREE thing in the world.

When you try a

brand new juice, actually, the company is not giving you the free juice. Instead, the company is risking their money (invest), by giving you the free juice and hopefully you tell others about the juice or if “lucky” enough, you will buy the juice.

Have you ever heard about free ebook? Let say I am giving away my ebooks for free (real case study, see at rajakamil.com footer). Believe me, i I get nothing from the free ebook, I will not share the ebooks.
So, what will I get in return of the free ebook?

  1. your email
  2. i’ll get free mouth to mouth promotio n
  3. gain credibility
  4. loyal reader
  5. etc etc etc

I am not talking about the benefit come after the above benefits yet.

Alright. Why I am telling you this (free information, for sure I’ll get something), I am going to share with you, a marketing stratergy of freebies.

But, please wait. I could not finish up this article yet. I’ll continue about this, at Part II.
