Spam Comment. How to …

If you like me, whos has a blog exposed very hard to spammer, sure it wis a boring task to delete all the spam comments.

Maybe for 1st month, you can tolerate with those spammers. You go through every comments inside your spam comment’s folder.

Sound like you ?

But then, you realise, almost the comments inside the spam folder are really a spam comment.

Comments like "Awesome template, where you got it?" repeatedly sucked inside your spam folder. At last, you decide to hit the button "delete all". Easy….

———————

But how sure are you that the comments are really a spam comment ?

Here are some tips to detect the kind of that comment.

1. Username is not a username

Can you differiciate between a username of "Make Money Online" and "Johan Chow" ?
Which one do you think is a username? :)

Most of the time, spammers used a keyword to make a comment. This happen for most of do follow’s blog like mine.

The more comments there successfully penetrate inside the blog, the highest the backlinks there get.

2. Email

If your commenters really sincire to give a comment, it should not a problem for them to give a real email. At least, look like real. :)

if the email used is like "2jasd9@sdaffuijh89123.com" then it is a spam comment.

3. The comment

Your post was about a healthy lifestyle but you got a comment like;

"Nice template" :) .

That are the 3 tips from me. Actually, what I am trying to say is, whicever techniques you tried to get rid of the spammers, they always come with something more powerful.

PS : For wordpress users, use Akismet !

5 steps to stop SPAM comment

Have you ever get SPAM comment on your blog? Is it annoying? I got 20 to 30 SPAM comment everyday. Some of you, may also get hundreds if not thousands of SPAMcomment everyday.

I have to check the comments, one by once in case of a real comment being catched by Akismet.

But, don’t worry, in this post,I am going to show you how to deal with this SPAM comment.

Here one example of SPAM comment on my blog :

if you can see, the words used mostly is "sex", "drug" and " viagra". Keep these keywords in your mind. We wil use it later.

Okay;

Here the steps :

1. Go to setting and click "Discussion"

2. When you are at "discussion" page, scroll down until you find "comment blacklist".

3. you can insert IP, email or keywords that the SPAMMERS use. In my case, IP address won’t work. Most of the spammer use different IP, and different email for his email.

Our best choice is to use the keywords use.

Please note, one keyword, one line.

4. Remember the keywords that I ask you to remember before? They are, sex, drug and viagra. Actually it depends on what keyword the SPAMMER used. Usually, most of the SPAMMER is the same person. We can see the trend by observing the SPAM comments left.

Please note, I just add the keywords. See the red box.

The number of keyword you can add is unlimited. But my advise is to keep the number as small as you can. It is to avoid the real comment being black listed too.

5. Scroll down and click SAVE buton.DONE !!!

PS : This methods is work with wordpress only.

PPS : I use wordpress 2.7. The diagram may varies and it is varies on different version.
